Something about Halloween

Today we celebrate Halloween! Ja, Halloween, the festival for kids– they dress up with funny costumes, making fun of each other. Maybe they are going to play “trick-or-treat”. I am not sure that “trick-or-treat” is played here in Germany, I am sure that kids will have a great time this evening.

Halloween in Chinese is “万圣节之夜”(wàn shèng jié zhī yè), a direct translation of Halloween, The eve of All Saints’Day.

In Chinese, ghost is called 鬼 (guǐ ). Halloween in Chinese is also called 鬼节(guǐ jié ).

The most common object of Halloween, the pumpkin, is called 南瓜(nán guā ).

  1. No celebration of Halloween for kids here in Singapore, made me think of the celebration in ISN, “Halloween is coming, Halloween is coming,…”, still remember this song they sang.
